TRANSPORTATION THAT CONNECTS PEOPLE TO OPPORTUNITY
Helping You Reach the Services That Matter
COCAS Transportation Assistance helps eligible individuals and families coordinate safe and reliable transportation to healthcare, employment, education, housing, benefits, food resources and other essential services.
COCAS may provide transportation directly, coordinate with an approved partner or help the applicant locate another transportation resource based on the request and service area.
COCAS Transportation Assistance is not an ambulance, emergency-response service or 911 substitute. For a medical emergency or immediate danger, contact local emergency services (911).
What We Help Coordinate
Transportation categories
COCAS helps coordinate non-emergency transportation across many essential destinations. Availability varies by service area and funding.
Medical Appointments
Primary care, specialists, therapy, behavioral health, dental, vision, dialysis, rehab, prenatal, pharmacy and more.
Medical transportation coverage and authorization must be verified. COCAS does not guarantee that a health plan will approve or pay for a requested trip.
Hospital and Facility Discharge
Hospital, rehab, behavioral-health and treatment-program discharge transportation to a safe destination.
A person requiring emergency medical monitoring cannot be transported through a standard ride.
Employment Transportation
Interviews, orientation, first day, workforce center, training, shifts and equipment pickup.
Ongoing daily transportation is not promised before funding and capacity are confirmed.
Education and Training
GED, college, vocational training, certification, adult education, job-readiness and testing.
Housing and Shelter
Emergency shelter, transitional housing, viewings, lease signing, inspections and approved relocation.
Domestic-Violence and Safety Transportation
Transportation away from an unsafe location, shelter intake, protective-order hearing and confidential relocation.
Safe-home and domestic-violence destinations remain confidential.
Food and Basic Needs
Food pantry, grocery, distribution events, clothing closet, furniture and diaper banks.
Benefits and Government Appointments
Medicaid, Social Security, SNAP/WIC/TANF, veterans, identification, housing authority and disability.
Legal and Court Transportation
Court, attorney, protective-order hearing, probation, parole and legal-aid.
Transportation assistance is not legal advice.
Reentry Transportation
Release pickup, approved housing, probation or parole, identification, employment and family reunification.
Senior and Disability Transportation
Accessible vehicles, wheelchair transportation, door-to-door, escort and caregiver accompaniment.
Family and Childcare Transportation
Childcare intake, school enrollment, pediatric, WIC, family services and supervised visitation.
Required car-seat and child-passenger information must be confirmed before assigning a ride.
Substance-Use Recovery Transportation
Assessment, outpatient, intensive outpatient, recovery meetings, medication and treatment intake.
An immediate overdose or medical emergency must be directed to emergency services.
Public Transit and Paratransit Navigation
Route planning, bus-pass resources, reduced-fare applications, paratransit navigation and transit training.
COCAS does not control public-transit eligibility decisions.
Gas Cards, Vouchers and Mileage Support
Gas cards, transit passes, ride-share vouchers, taxi vouchers, mileage reimbursement and parking assistance.
All financial assistance requires funding verification, approval, distribution records and a duplicate-assistance check.
Qualification & availability
Transportation options vary by state, county, destination, funding source, accessibility need, provider availability and program capacity. Submitting a request does not guarantee a ride.
COCAS Transportation Assistance is a non-emergency transportation-support and coordination program. Transportation availability, eligibility, cost, funding, provider assignment and accommodations must be confirmed before a trip is considered scheduled.
